MRHC is an independent living community with services for individuals at least 62 years of age. Located in a three-story building, there are fifty one-bedroom units with an elevator. Apartments include a full kitchen, living/dining room and full bath with ample storage space. Facilities include staff offices, common dining room, activity room, craft room, library and beauty salon. Trash and laundry rooms are located on each floor. MRHC is a non-smoking community. Normal household pets of a limited size are allowed provided they are compliant with the Pet Policy. All units are wired with an emergency call system.
The community is funded by the State of Connecticut Department of Housing (DOH) and follows the regulations of that agency. Resident income from all sources is limited to income limits established annually by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. A rental assistance contract with DOH provides funding so that the rent for each apartment does not exceed 30% of adjusted income from all sources. A contract with DOH provides subsidy for congregate services based on state mandated calculations. This is a required fee, in addition to the rent.
Services and amenities at this site include 24 hour coverage by staff, daily meal at noon, weekly light housekeeping for each apartment and a full range of programs designed to promote physical, intellectual, social and emotional health. For residents in need of additional services there is a contracted Assisted Living Service Agency that shares our goal of providing residents with assistance and resources to allow them to age in place.
